+ 1 on Hood Pins.

When I was running my shop, we had a customer with an EG Civic that ordered one of the better hoods on the market at the time, one that the manufacturer made assurances that the latch was strong and would hold. 6 months later in the middle of summer, the latch failed and it took out the hood, the windshield and his sunroof as well as messing up his roof pretty good. (he was going about 80mph when it happened)

Not worth the risk IMHO so hood pins are a cheap insurance policy when it comes to replacing all that glass and the body work involved.

To drill the holes for the pins, put masking tape on and around the area you're going to drill and that will prevent cracking. If there are mounting rings, pre-drill those holes as well.
