Splitter 'splits' incoming air to create a lower pressure faster moving air mass beneath the splitter and higher pressure slower moving air mass above the splitter. This, in effect, is added downforce. The larger the exposed splitter area, the greater the downforce. Theoretically giving better traction into and through turns. Will decrease overall top speed but that isn't too big an issue considering we don't have Autobahns here. Higher pressure air above the splitter also moves more air into the radiation and vent openings on the front facia.

Thought above moving the support rods further apart but it actually required the most support in that area. Plus the front plate bracket attachment points just happened to be conveniently located right there. It was a fairly tough install as the instructions are 1. remove bumper 2. mount splitter 3. replace bumper. Not much to go on. Others have attached the splitter with bumper in place. I figured out a way to access all bumper attachment points AND secure the splitter with 8 mm bolts to the bumper assembly as well as throw in some metal screws into a cross member. It's not going anywhere. Having to remove the bumper again in the future will be challenging however.
