You need a "baffle", that the car installer guys use.. Just simply a ring of some thickness of MDF which mounts above and to the deck (Self-tapping sheet metal screws to deck), then the speaker mounts to the baffle (wood screws I guess). It will float your speaker above the deck to eleviate some mounting depth. Some guys also seal around the basket baffle and deck with non-hardening modeling clay or other to air-seal it.

Trick is to not make it so thick the speaker will be too close to the grill above it.

Guys make them with a router and a circle jig (parts express has those), or just get the mounting hole diameter from the speaker and cut it out with a jig-saw for something not so pretty but functional.
