I have the K&N air filter. No noticeable difference in fuel economy. One less thing to spend money on replacing now at least.

I've wanted to hear from someone who has the short air intake. In theory the worry over heated air could work to your advantage. Heated engine air will help your car warm up faster and stay above the critical temp needed for best FE and autostop conditions. Of course how much fuel you could save vs the cost of the intake.... I'll let someone else test it out.
