Honda's R&D cleverly designed that stock intake to provide nice cool air flow with a killer sound after the VTEC ignites without violating emission standards, it seems to be a bit chaotic but I have to agree that for a stock intake it does it's intended job.
As for the after market air cleaners, with a stock power plant the OEM air cleaners will actually function the best, they apply the right amount of air flow and particle protection for what's intended.
