This is NOT TRUE. You do not have to take off the door panel to change the mirror, on an Si at least. Maybe others, since mirror is mounted to door.

For Si, pull straight out the corner triangle plastic piece, held on by metal clip. You will see two screws under it. In the corner, there is a cover cap. Remove it. There is the third screw. Remove all three screws, and unplug the electrical connector. Depress on both sides of the electrical connector housing, there are two plastic protrusions. Hold the mirror from the outside while depressing, because these two plastic protrustions are the last thing holding the mirror in place. Remove the mirror.
