Have you also noticed that the opponent car never gets penalized? (at least in GT4) Also the AI cars never make mistakes so the only way to win against the world's most perfect drivers is to a) have a much faster car b) slam into the other cars, use them as cornering aids or run them off the track or c) cheat.
