Lol, you'd have to run through 2 feet of water with no fender well guards to even be remotely at risk.
The previous versions of the K&N typhoon suffered from massive heatsoak. Shield or not, the filter placement is in the back of the engine bay where hot air gets trapped in slow driving conditions. If you're honestly concerned about hydrolock, wait for the Comptech Icebox or get an K&N drop-in.
