Incorrect.
I'm on my 4th 360. The first lasted 4 months before the drive failed. The second lasted 2 weeks before it redringed. The third lasted about 2 months before the graphics chipset began overheating and locking up. Interestingly, there was no redring the third, just fail.
I always keep my consoles clean and with plenty of ventilation. They sit on top of the TV stand, not in a cubby. I keep the cables uncluttered. The power source has good ventilation, too. These were just design and manufacturing defects, no way around it.
That being said, my first PS3 was actually broken when I bought it. The drive wouldn't recognize any discs. I exchanged it the next day and everything has worked perfectly since then.
Which is better? All in all, I give the title to PS3, mainly because it is much more adaptable. 360 has a lot more games that I want to play. I probably have 10 or so 360 games but only 3 PS3 games. But that's changing right now. PS3 is bringing along all the great games I've been waiting for. And I use it for movies and a few other things as well.
PS3 > 360 already, and the gap is widening.
