Synthetic oil for RX8's don't agree with the polymer seal, and excess oil gets into the combustion chamber, putting raw gas into the catalytic converter (and screwing the cat up)

As long as it's the engine burning oil--and not leaking like old British cars, that's fine. Just check the oil level and fill it up every now and then.
