Because you can't get it for free. XM and Sirius are merging either way and being a subscriber to both for the past three years I can tell you this isn't true. It will continue to be active sometimes as they will run your account into the negative range where you OWE them money.. I have seen people continue to get it from company error but you can't plan ahead and take actions to ensure that it will work. Then you will just end up paying a reactivation fee plus the money you owed them from letting it run over. Good luck!
And by the way, if you got it for free it wouldn't be legal. :sigh:
