The car has not had its first oil change yet. When I bought it the dealer said that Honda uses special break in oil and it should be left in till the oil life indicator went down to 15%. Is the special break in oil a real thing or a dealer myth? I'm asking because thats the first time I've heard of special break in oil.
Its really up to you :]

The maintenance minder will come on at 15% oil life left.

The way the % works is it spans a total of 7,000 Miles.

If you regularly do oil changes at 3,000 miles, then you will want to change it around 40-45% (3000 is apprx 42% of 7000).

I try to change mine at the 50% mark or 3500k.
