Actually, when I was buying the Civic, I wanted an EX with navi coupe.
I ended up with a Fiji Blue Si. I bought it almost exclusively for the aesthetics, color (Fiji) and added power for when I need it. I rarely, rarely give it hell, though I will say this: it is MUCH nicer to pass cars or get out of a jam in an Si than an EX, trust me.
The EX-L is nice, but it's not going to be a cushy ride like a Caddilac. Expect it to be a little harsh. The Si is a bit harsher, but it is more precise, on-track, and the steering is tighter.
Both are great cars, but you need to decide whether the premium gas for the Si, lower gas mileage, and the like are worth it. The EX-L with heated leather sure is nice, as is the fuel economy, but I would advise getting a manual, as the automatic I drove was very, very, very slow. I felt like the Aveo rental I had was faster.
