Not true.

Not sure how their system works but disconnecing your radio dosen't matter. I've been a subscriber for years and I've cancelled radio's that where unplugged. They didn't work when I plugged them in later on. They also send out the cancellation signal immediately, within 5 minutes of swapping radios i've had the service turned off, sometimes it's taken an hour or two.

Also working at acura the cars came with a 3 month subscription. The Tech's would activate it during PDI and if the car sat around for more than 3 months then when you'd turn the car on (dead battery or not) to an inactive XM subscription.
