Rufisa thanks for the pic. I'd call that a high-flow air filter (meaning, of course, that it "filters" fewer particles therefore lets the air flow by faster) not a cold air intake. Are you concerned that you may be letting more particulate matter into your engine?
My HCH II has only 2500 miles on it and the fuel efficiency gets better with every tank, I presume as the engine breaks in and the already-LRR tires lose whatever extra grip they had when they were brand new, not to mention small refinements in my hypermiling techniques. Is your vehicle still somewhat new and possibly still breaking in?
