Now that would be a great DIY to read.. I don't know if it would work, but I've got an original version JL 10w6 hanging out that I'd love to use. Would that sub just suck or fair decent in such a setup?

From what I can google the spec's on the 10w6 (V1):
Fs 23.2
Qts .432
Qes .463
Qms 6.567
Vas 2.3 ft3
Xmax 1way .469 in
Efficiency 84.2 db (will need some bumpin' amp behind it I imagine)
Dual 6ohm
Continuous 300 watts

... alternative, I don't mind slapping it in a 1cf box in the trunk though if I gotta.. But I'm sure I'll lay it in there and see just how silly it would be to try to shoehorn it into the deck.. Not likely though.. Mounting depth is 5.5". Magnet diameter 6.5"
