Look at your car's paint at an angle and in the sun when you get a chance. You probably have mad swirl marks from using that brush or anything else semi-abrasive on your car.

Save the coin-op washes for winter only. If you care about your car's paint and appearance you need to own a good quality sponge, lint-free waffle-knit microfiber dry cloth (not Canadian Tire stuff), and some meguiars crystal car wash liquid.
