D.I.Y Sidemarker Harness.
Since there is already a very well done and amazingly detailed D.I.Y. on how to install side markers.
I thought I'd throw in a D.I.Y. to make your own Side Marker harness. (I didn't feel like spending $20+ dollars on a harness)
Total cost of this harness is about $1 for both.
Amount of time, depends on if you make a pot of coffee and drink two cups or not. (15mins)
Difficulty level... walking up stairs is harder.
Two rolls of wire - $2 each. (total of 50 feet)
Connectors (whole box) - $3
Heat shrink - $2 for 6 different colour tubes 4 inches long each
So here it is...
First make sure you have what you need for this project...
Wire...
Red and black, or whatever colours you like... I made each lead 7 feet long just for fun...
Crimper...
Stripper...
Multi Meter...
Connectors...
Wire cutter , if you don't like using the one on the Stripper...
Now look at the Marker socket, see the terminals, this is what we're going to attach the harness to...
These will do perfectly...
Need to open them up slightly to slip onto the terminals...
Now to strip four ends of our wires, two red and two black...
Slip on the connector
Nice strong crimp... then test with multimeter for a good connect, tug slightly to see if it's secure...
One side in...
Then the other...
Finished, with heat shrink wrap for added protection... *note... black charred marks due to using a lighter*
Standard bulb
Led Bulb (d'un know why it looks so blue, they are white leds.. ah well)
Side by side..
Done.
