The '08 LX is my first standard car and I understand your frustration. What I do is I switch into 1st gear and rev slightly over idle while slowly letting go of the clutch. I find it much more difficult with the LX to find the sweet spot and then gassing it. I thought it was just me, but I have driven a Mazda 3, Mazdaspeed 6, and a Golf without this being a major problem, but I find it difficult to start from a dead stop without pushing on the gas first. I was hoping someone could agree with me and say that it's not the driver but the car, hehe.
