Thumbs up List of Dealerships fixing 3rd gear problems

Alright, so our cries have been heard and they have finally issued a fix to our dreaded 3rd gear problems! I figured that we should have a thread that states all the dealerships where people have had the 3rd gear TSB fixed at. This should make it easier to find a nearby dealer that has dealt with the problem and knows what to expect and what to do, therefor lessening the chance of going to a dealer that "can't replicate the problem" . Once we have enough names, I (or a Mod... PLEASE?! ) will organize this by state to make it easier to find your area.

I figure this format should do:

Name:
Location (City/State):
Dealership:
Service Manager:
Service Advisor:
Mods:

Please try to keep this thread neat and avoid random chatter!

Thanks guys!

got me a rental...very qiuck and awesome (i also informed the BBB...and the BBB called Tameron Honda and tameron called me about it...so that might of had an effect)
UPDATE:
Honda tells me that 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th gears are torn to HELL, and it had to of happened before I bought it (considering I have only had about 5k miles to drive it) And they replaced ALL those gears, even 3rd (under warranty). I got the car back had it for a week.... and it ended up back in the shop...the transmission was making...well not grinding noises...but like BAD rubbing noises...like they forgot to put tranny fluid in...so im back in the rental....awesome...
*UPDATE 7/04/08
Got my car back again, they had installed a faulty berring(sp?) the first time, and when putting a new one in, that one fell apart, so the third time was the charm...cars running good, and finally mine after a MONTH of waiting

calircr
Location: Southern California
Dealership: Ball Honda of National City
Notes: Ball Honda of National City said they will NOT fix 3rd gear issue even if there is a TSB. They stated that I will need to pay the diagnostic fee to test out the issue and if there aren't any problems, they won't fix it. I think I'll go over to Pacific Honda instead. This is just a heads up for those of you in San Diego county and take your car over to Ball Honda. Looks like Pacific Honda is the place to go for this fix.

Notes: I called and made an appointment to have it checked out. After trying for two days they still could not verify the problem. At the end of the second day a honda field service engineer( not sure if that was his title but thats what we call them in the ford world(I work at a ford dealership)) called me and asked me a few questions. Basically because they know the problem really does exist and the car is low mileage and it only happens about once a week that they would just replace the third gear under good will. So... I had it done about a week ago and my car shifts soo much better now. I officially love my si again. Metro honda rocks (free car washes with visit and fresh baked cookies)

Notes: Came in with printed copy of TSB. Mike kind of surprised, kept telling me that there was nothing he could do because I'm out of warrantee. My response was that the TSB was Honda's way of acknowledging that there is a problem. I also fell squarely in the middle of the affected/afflicted VIN range. Plead my case 3 times before he finally caved in and called Honda. HondaUSA offered to cover 80% of the cost of the fix. They won't cover 100% because I'm at almost 60k miles on the odo. Still, the educated customer can get what they need; The ignorant customer will probably get nothing from these guys.

Dealership: GO Honda 104th
Service Manager: Mike Vaughn
Service Advisor: Mike Bader
Mods: None
Notes: Service manager was the first person I spoke to and did initial courtesy inspection. When he asked if I had transportation home I said I called Honda and they told me a loaner car would be provided for the time the car was in the shop. After the initial paperwork was done, he took me to the Enterprise (located inside the dealership) and had them get me a car ($50 deposit). He called a few hours later and let me know parts needed to be ordered and it should be done within a week.

Connecticut
Marcoc
Location: Connecticut
Dealership: Liberty Honda in Hartford
Notes: Brought the TSB printed online for back up showing proof of problem and they stated they would try and replicate the issue. They called me a few hours later and said they could not replicate the problem but since there is a TSB they ordered the needed parts and would call me when they arrive. They stated on the paperwork that I came with the TSB info kinda funny but they are going to fix it even though it wasn't really giving me too many problems only once and a while.

Dealership: Honda Cars of Bradenton, FL
Notes: can't say enough good things about this store. I purchased my 2007 Civic Si from them last December. I started having problems shifting into 3rd gear almost immediately. I didn't complain until I found you website and read the threads. I brought my car in for routine maintenance last week and complained of the problem. They test drove the car and could replicate BUT ordered the parts to address my concerns. They said they would need at least two to three days to FIX the problem.

Notes: I called and made an appointment and explained over the phone I was having intermittent shift problems. Dropped the car off this morning and gave them the TSB#, told them it is more when its cold outside (it was 70 degrees here today) and they probably won't be able to reproduce it.
-They called back this after noon and said even though they couldn't reproduce it they ordered the parts and will do the service tomorrow. Can't recommend Rosen in Gurnee, IL enough!!!

Notes: Called to make appointment, told them about new TSB. They said to bring it in. I had brought it in 4x before and replicated at the very least notchy shifting (which was enough) in the dead of winter in Jan. Most dealerships dont know about the TSB so they had to look it up and then order the parts (takes about a week). Didnt even ask me to reproduce it when I went in, just ordered the parts and will call me when they have parts next week.

Dealership: Ken Dixon Honda
Service Manager: Nate (can't remember last name)
Service Advisor: Same as above
Mods: Injen CAI, Skunk2 70mm
Notes: Took my car to the dealership about 5 different times. Each time a service advisor drove the car and couldn't duplicate the problem. Finally after seeing the TSB, I printed it out and showed my service advisor. After waiting about three hours I told them I even had a video of it and I was sick of putting up with them time after time making me wait hours and wasting my gas driving to the dealership. So, the guy didn't even look at the video, or drive my car and said he'd call me when the parts came in. I became a happy customer once again. Still awaiting the call for parts. Apparently they are nationally back ordered and it could take up to 2 months for them to come in.

Replicated the problem and said he has two parts only and the rest are on back order. He even mentioned the TSB. WOOT for me, not yet, not until they get allt he parts in and fixed. Notes: I took my car into the shop in the morning and mentioned to them that my 3rd gear is notchy to get into and sometimes it doesn't feel like it fully engages. I left the car with them and the rep gets back to me later in the afternoon and says he test drove the car and then two other techs but they were unable to replicate the problem, so I told him I'll come in and I can show him what I was talking about. A little bit later he calls back and tells me he found a TSB about the 3rd gear issue, which was nice because I was going to print out the TSB and bring it up there, then he says they can go ahead and order the parts and call me next week when they get the parts in. I was upset when they said nothing was wrong but they redeemed my faith in Honda after the second callback saying they found a TSB without me having to bring it up to them.

Notes: So far so good. Their customer service sucks but all you have to do is call honda of america and make an officialccomplaint and they send the customer comments to the service manager the next day with a warning HAHAHAHA(BITCHES).anyways, they changed the tranny fluid the first time, it worked for about 1200 miles then POP!!!!i went back and they told me they would change the 3rd gear set. its been 400 miles since then and not a notch nothing at all. in a cold start in 40 degree weather i shifted as if it was 80 degrees outside.

Service Manager: Paul Giameo
Mods and Mileage: None, bone stock till I get the damn 3rd gear fix. I strongly advise everyone to go to their dealer with their car as stock as possible so that they won't give you the run around. 13.5k miles, 10 months old.
Notes: Ive brought the car in 3 times before for the same issue so I made another appointment last week for this morning when I first heard about the TSB. This time I rode with the tech who was assigned to my car to duplicate the grind/pop. Lo and behold, it only happens ONCE. To top it off it wasnt even a bad grind like it would usually be, but a wee, tiny one. The tech says something about only replacing the MTF but I said that it was only the equivalent of a band-aid fix. The tech was then to go with his manager to try and replicate it. Surprise, he couldn't replicate it. But the manager was kind enough to call AH and spoke with their rep Jeff who advised him to fix it even though they couldnt replicate it. The manager was more than happy to perform the service. And to top it off, he offered to take care of minor maintenance to the car since it took 3 visits to get this thing done. Parts were ordered today and Ill be called back once they come in. But I guess parts are on backorder (?) so it might take a while. Service advisors aren't too great at the place but the manager was a hell of a lot better than the rest of the guys.

Notes: I was SURE I was going to have to fight for this but they called and said no problem! Now, I did bring the car in for 2 reasons, looks like the Clutch Master Cylinder needs to be replaced (see the click/hitch in clutch thread by stealth). And that's $420 So maybe since they're getting some money out of me it's not a problem but who knows.

Service Manager: John Schuck
Service Advisor: The whole team -- they love me there!
Mods: stock, except for SS, suspension, and other little things (SS has been on for 3 weeks. I have had 3rd gear issue for close to a year)
Notes: Currently I am a little over 33k on my car. I first took the car in for the 3rd gear issue around 4k. They could not replicate the problem. I started to do some research and I found info on here and other sites regarding the start of the "3rd gear issue". Took the car in for my next oil change, and they released the MTF fluid, and replaced with new honda fluid. It was smooth like butter for a day or two. Continuously documented with the dealer, my issue with 3rd gear. Because they could not replicate the notchiness or 3rd gear grind on several occasions, I decided to give up my Si for a day. I dropped my car off at night, and picked up a 2008 accord as my loaner. I told them the nex morning, start the car and try driving it. Finally, they replicated the problem. Docuemtned my file accordingly about 45 days ago. I personally sent them, honda corp, and their district manager the links to the 3rd gear video that made it to the news, and various links from the ocho. I received an e-mail 3 days ago. Parts are ordered, and they will be doing the fix for me as soon as they come in

Mods: SS removed, Cable bushings to be removed prior, base bushings are going to be left on.
Notes: Bringing my car into Princeton, NJ Honda on Friday. Sounds like they are going to have to replicate the problem first and then if and only if they are able to replicate the problem they are going to order the parts.
-I took my TWM SS out today, and I am planning on taking my TWM cable bushings out, but I am debating whether or not I should remove my shifter base bushings, cause they were such a bitch to put in.
-I just hope they can replicate the problem and if they can it doesn;t take weeks to get the parts. I want to put a bunch of stuff on my car that I have waiting to go on!
*UPDATE 7-05-2008
Honda of Princeton,NJ received all of the necessary parts to do the work on my tranny, but I am beginning to question whether or not I should bring it in and have them do it. For one my problem does not happen very often, therefor I wonder if I should wait till the car is a little older and either a. the problem gets worse or b. Honda has a better fix for it. The other part that worries me is Honda of Princeton has had two Si's sitting in their lot waiting to have their tranny fixed, one of them is an employees car, and the other is just a customers I believe. These cars have been waiting for parts for months, and I have only waited a month or so. Those cars are still sitting there and I'm concerned my car is just going to be the guinea pig, and end up having more problems after they work on it then before.

Notes: Called 7-15-08 and got a girl named Natasha she asked what I needed to make an appointment for and I told her I had a third gear problem that I have been there before for and that I have the TSB 08-020 and she put me on hold to look it up. She told me that I would have to bring the car down to make sure my care fit under the models that were affected. I kindly told her that I have an 07 4 door Si and that it says all of them can be fixed. She then told me that she can not order parts for it until a service manager saw and drove the car. I brought the car to the service department and spoke to another service writer because Natasha left for the day. I showed him the paper work and he told me he ordered the parts for Natasha and they are on backorder. I asked him if I needed to see the service manager or anything and he told me that my car falls under this bulliten and he is ordering the parts today 7-16-08.
*UPDATE 7-17-08 Service Advisor (Ricky Bones)
The guy I spoke to on the 15th never called back yesterday so around 1pm yesterday I called and they said they had to have the car before anything. I told them the story from the other day (and stupid me forgot to get the guys name). So after all this they said I need to bring in the car and drop it off so they can test drive it. I asked what will happen if they can not duplicate it and the service writer told me that they would have to decide if they will fix it or not. With all this happening and right before we leave the service writer told us that he has an 07 Si and it never happened to him and that his friends always ask him about TSB 08-020 and he tells them that they just dont know how to drive stick. Why would anyone say that to someone who is giving a place business. Hopefully I will hear back from them today.
*UPDATE 7-18-08
The service department called and told me they took the car for a test drive and that they duplicated the problem and that they would fly in the parts for my car! They took the trans out and apart yesterday and they will get the parts this morning and put it all together. Should have the car back tonight or monday!!

Notes: Steve didn't even ask to test drive the car, saying it was almost pointless. He said that most of the time people had to leave their cars at the dealer for weeks until the flaw was reproduced. He just ordered the parts and said he'd call me when they come in. Great service.
UPDATE:
Well, I finally dropped my car off to get the fix done on my car. They called me about last Thursday and I took the car in this afternoon. I first took it to the dealership almost 3 months ago and they finally got the parts in. I got a 2008 Civic Sedan as a loaner and I already miss my Si . They asked me when I wanted the car back, but I told them as long as I have a way to work with the loaner, they can keep the car for as long as they want. I just want the fix done and for them to do things right. After hearing about all these people having troubles after the fix, I am kinda worried but oh well.
UPDATE:
Got my car back today. It took a grand total of 26 hours from when I dropped the car off until I got the call to pick it up, Immke Honda is pretty fast apparently. Everything is running great and 3rd doesn't feel notchy anymore. But that just might be the new MTF, who knows. Lets pray the grind is finally gone!

GeezerSi
Location: Emmaus, PA
Dealer: Lehigh Valley Honda
Service department: link -> Auto Service - Honda Civic, Accord, Pilot - Lehigh Valley Honda - Emmaus, Pennsylvania
Mods: I have many mods on the car including Hondata reflash, short shifter, and bushings.
Notes: I had brought my SI in twice to look at the 3rd gear issue. 1st time they replaced the MTF, and the second time they said they could not replicate the popout/grind.
I called and talked to Brett the service manager about the TSB. He checked to see when the parts would all be available, then scheduled me to rebuild my transmission for next Tuesday/Wednesday.
UPDATE:
As I have already stated, I brought my SI in with numerous modifications, most notably a short-shifter, base-bushings, cable-bushings, aftermarket knob/boot, and Hondata reflash. My dealer did the rebuild without question, and never said a word about any of the mods.
After a week of driving, the shifting has been great. I would highly recommend this dealership for anything, and especially for this TSB.

Notes: Took car in for Rear ABS recall and mentioned my 3rd gear grinds or is hard to shift into at times. Tech took the car for a ride for like 2 blocks and replicated the problem. Car goes in for the 3rd gear work next week. Can't wait to feel what it's like to have a proper working 3rd gear. The dealership was friendly and eager to help. They also mentioned the TSB before I did, which was cool. I got a free oil change while I was at it too. Just like GeezerSi said, Lehigh Valley Honda is a great dealer.

None of the we can't duplicate it bs or anything. His email is- 2johnr@eaglehonda.com.

Service Manager: Monty (don't know the last name)
Mods: Stock, havent dared touch anything with the tranny issue going on. Will be going with an SS to start if things stay good.
Notes: Just got mine fixed yesterday. Tranny seems VERY smooth and shift engagement seems a lot less jerky. We'll see how it holds up over time, felt good after an MTF change too I called in 2 days after the TSB was out and my service manager had already been trying to remember my last name so he could give me a call about it. Had been taking it to Gillman in San Antonio and been given the run around or accused of beating on it (I'd been babying it since I bought it, especially after the tranny started. Had a tech from another Honda dealership that I gave a ride to one time remark he'd never seen someone not get on their Si constantly like me).
