Need opinions from locals
Last month I got a ticket near the I88 (79 in 65), though I was following traffic pretty much.
Anywho, fast forward to now. I sent in the form pleading not guilty, and I got a letter from the court, giving me 2 options:
1. Do not respond and show up in court
2. Send a letter to the DA office for a reduction
Which is the more viable option at this point? Keep in mind I'm Canadian and live in Ontario, so NY tickets get transferred directly to Ontario for records. My main goal is to not get any demerit points, the fee itself isn't a huge concern.
Also keep in mind that I have to drive down there from here, which is at least 10 hours of driving round trip. If I were to choose option 1, is it possible for me to hire a ticket fighter in that region to fight it for me? This is my first ticket as well, so if I were to court, I would think I have a good chance of getting it removed altogether (if the judge is feeling generous).
So I need some input from NY guys, what would you do?
