The total light output will be the same, because the part that generates the light is the semiconductor inside the LED. You are not touching that part.
However, since the light is not "focused" anymore, it might seem less bright.
Think about it this way.
say, there's 100 lumen of light available.
you put 50 lumen here and 50 there, each area gets 50 only
if you focus all 100 lumen on 1 area, that are gets 100 lumen. 100>50, therefore will look brighter.
