My guess, djpreview, is that they offer different sizes to fit cars and turbo kits that already have a fitting to plumb a recirculation fitting into already. Since you would have to weld a fitting onto the intake pipe to recirculate back into, you would choose a size that is the same as the fitting you are planning to weld on. So the answer is, it depends.
