DIY: Megan Racing Midpipe install(sound clip)

i bought the megan racing midpipe for the Si. bought from showstoppers. shipping was pretty fast. Overall time for install was about an hour i would say, it wasnt hard to install.

it came with hardware to install the midpipe.

tools used: 14mm,12mm,socket wrench,and WD-40

1st step: jack up the car so its in the air. i used (2) jack stands and a car jack. i used the 2 stands in the front under the doors and the jack under the tow hook in the rear.

2nd step: stray some WD-40 to lubracate the 3 bolts on the cat. i would say leaving soaking for about 10 mintues. even with WD-40 the bolts where pretty tough to loosen up. dont pull the bolts off just yet.

3rd step: loosen the 2 string bolt connecting the axel back. i would recommend using some WD-40 on these too. take off these bolts and lower the axel back.

4th step: pull of the rubber hangers to pull the stock midpipe down. there are 2 hangers.

5th step:unscrew the bolts on the cat, pull down the midpipe. and this is what the inside of the cat looks like.

6th stepull of the hangers there fairly easy, after dropping the stock midpipe remove from under the car. here is a comparison of the two.

7th step: put the new first part of the midpipe on the end of the cat. (i didnt use the gasket because it didnt fit but you dont really need it) hand tighten the 3 bolts back onto the cat.

8th step: remove the hangers and put them on the second part of the midpipe and put the hangers back on the mounting points.

9th step: use the bolts that are provided by megan and bolt up the first and the second part of the midpipe.

10th step:use the 2 new spring bolt provided by megan and bolt on your axel back.

11th step: finish tightening the bolts and double check everything.

i also put a new tip on my axel back because the tip was pretty dinged up when i bought the car. here are some pics:

when you turn the car on you can obivously hear the difference. i drove the car and sounds pretty nice, not raspy at all.

after the first moments you drive your car and park it you'll get a new exhaust smell. dont worry its normal. it will go away after a few days of driving.
