That last thing you want to do is get a cheap-o tripod for your ~$1K investment! Go for the good brands - they'll give you flexibility, durability, and peace of mind. Bogen Manfrotto is good but pricey. I have a GIOTTOS MT93 tripod... good stuff. Very sturdy and lots of configurations, good metal base too... just a tad heavy (~10lbs).
