Look up HDCP (HD Content Protection). I'm not sure if it's in effect yet as I know nothing about blue ray, but this form of content protection prevents the HD video signal from traveling over anything other than an HDMI cable to prevent copying.

but if my computer is supposed to be like a blu ray player no? its specifically designed to play on larger tvs hence the HDMI out, VGA out, S-Vid out, i-s400 out jacks on the machine.
is there a setting i can change?
