I thought about that too. There would have to be a hinge on the top to access the filter, or it would have to be a split case that is hinged in the middle, so that the filter could be removed or serviced. I suppose some type of silicone sealer or a rubber strip could be glued to the those areas.
I am still pursuing a plastic box along the lines of the stock box. The search goes on.....
