Alright, updates!!
I went to a NAPA/CMAX in town this weekend, and I knew immediately that these guys know what they're doing, since they have an entire section of the store dedicated to paint. The guy let me go outside and colour-match the mixed paint before he put it in the can too, which was cool. I bought another can of the colour-matched paint since the old one was a mis-match (I checked) and I bought better quality clearcoat:

The rest of the process was the same as in my original post... and this time the paint DID match! The clearcoat also cured much smoother than the other stuff I was using.
Finally, INSTALLED PICS! Today was a crappy day weather-wise, so I'll take some better shots when we actually get some sun.
