I hate it when people compare this Cloverfield to Blair Witch because no matter what you think of Cloverfield, it's light years ahead in every aspect. Blair Witch was boring, long, and a complete waste of time -it also had the lamest ending I've ever seen! I suppose the only thing that sucked more than Blair Witch was its sequel?

Agreed. Just because it was filmed similarly, doesn't mean it's the same movie. Or can even be compared. If anything, you can say Cloverfield was 10 times better than Blair Witch...but there is no other comparison.
George A. Romero is coming out with a new zombie movie that will be filmed primarily with hand held cameras. The guy is a genious, but I think this way of filming is already becoming too overdone. There's a Spanish film called REC that I just saw recently. It's all handheld. And now there's an American version coming out called Quarantine that is probably frame by frame the exact same movie.
JJ Abrams even said in a recent interview that if there is a sequel, they probably won't go handheld, since handheld camera work is getting overplayed.
