1 thing to note folks. You must have taken your car into any dealer at least once to have this tranny problem diagnosed or they can't assign a case manager to a case number. Typically if you haven't seen the dealer about it, they won't even assign a case number unless you ask them to, which I did because I told them I would bring it to the dealer (eventually-I'm not real keen on some 19 year old mechanic taking my car up to the redline and looking for tranny probs. I think I will suggest I do the driving, and they just observe the problem from the passenger seat). But the point is without a case manager, there is no human from American Honda doing anything about it-its just a file on a computer with a number assigned with it. I did not realize this, and now must go to a dealer and let them attempt to remedy the problem before I can call AH back and get a human on my side.

CASE NUMBER:
N032008 – 02 – 2801379

WHO:
L. Faure (07 Figi Blue Si)

WHAT:
2007 Honda Civic Si Coupe

MY PROBLEMS:
(a) notchy shifting
(b) resistance going into 2nd, 3rd mainly, 5th often and sometimes 6th gear
(c) grinding related to 2nd and 3rd gear
(d) transmission kicking out/popping out into neutral from 3rd, once. But the knob felt like it was preloaded and shot towards the next gear a few other times (just about to pop out, and I shifted.) And that was enought for me to do some research, find this site, register as user, read threads, realize there was a global problem, change MTF, and now get on board for the recall.
(e) a third gear with an imprecise gate that sometimes allows for the shifter to be unsure
(f) pronounced in cold weather and first few shifts
(g) mis-shifting during agressive driving, where the intended gear is not achieved, and you slip into the adjacent gear (ie: +/-2 gear from that intended, like wanted 4th but got either 6 or 2 gear instead.)

(g) above is my biggest concern, because a few times near the redline of 5, I got 3 and bounced off the rev limiter. Similarly, in 3 I got 2 not 4. Once I ground it pretty bad, as I released the clutch expecting the shift, and it hesitated (notched), and it was only half-way engaged in gear when it shifted. That was the day I felt really sick about my new car, developed doubts about HMC despite previous great cars, and regestered here at 8th civic.com

She asked me if I had taken it into the dealer yet to try to get the problem fixed, and I have not and said No. She said that I must first do that before they will assign a case manager or any person to this case number. So I will do that and follow up. But I did sign the petition, called American Honda and complained, and got a case number assigned.

SUMMARY:
Country: U.S.A.
Call Taker’s Name: ?
Case Manager’s Name: TBD-after taking it to a dealer to have the problem fixed, and not having it fixed (ie: dealer saying "...we just can't replicate the problem.")
