Not everyone has the issue therefore it isn't necessary to replace everyone's 3rd gear for productivities sake. Most dealers have been told to take care of it if it is prevalent sort of like "if you have it we'll fix it" deal. The situation is like this:
Say a builder decides to build a neighborhood with 25 houses. He builds all of them with the same materials, same quality and all are structurally similar. One of the homeowners complains that mold is present in their new home. Consequently they tell their neighbors which tell their neighbors and eventually everyone is concerned. The homeowner that complains of mold turns out to be telling the truth, and the builder agrees to fix the problem adding higher grade materials to prevent the problem from happening again. The other homeowners complain stating the problem could have happened to them so why can't you fix our homes. The builder agrees that if the problem is prevalent then he will fix it, instead of assuming everyone has mold. People then complain saying they have mold just because they want their homes to be repaired. In terms of our situation, people are saying they have a 3rd gear issue even though it may not be prevalent. If its not prevalent why fix it? Its more along the lines that people think just cause one product is defective, all of them are so they think they have the issue, claim 3rd gear pops out etc etc.
