You make a great point. When the snowfall is heavy, you might note that your ventilation doesn't work so good until that snow is cleared away. However, once the snow is cleared, you should be fine. You could also just disconnect the sealed airbox from the firewall duct and run it that way during the winter. There were a number of muscle cars that had flaps that could close during severe rain or snow. If we kept the factory cold air inlet, we could still get fresh air coming in.
