seeing that even tho part of the forum is payed for by vendors, part of it is also paid for by VIPs. In this case its not a billboard, while there is a section with a billboard, a list of the vendors and random ads by vendors, including google and ebay ads
Thus being the case, a person who is NOT a vendor should be aloud the ability to post what he thinks about product a vs b, and give people information so they can research it themselves, otherwise its not a free market
and lowes and home depot is a good point
just like college hills vs schaller, at one place u get excellent customer service, at the other you get "WE ARE THE ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE" that attitude destroys reputation and turns people off to the business.
Now if this was a billboard, i wouldnt be allowed to post nething at all except praises about a vendors who sponsors the sites product
since its not, i do have freedom of speech to disagree with what we are being told
im not part of HIDplanet, because it is a business first, whereas this is a forum first, funded by MULTIPLE business, AND people who are not a business but their own entity
it is then that there is no way you can compare a place like this to a billboard, unlike comparing HIDplanet to a billboard
freedom of speech is the reason i left honda-tech.com, there was no freedom, unless you were bashing other people, then it was perfectly ok, cause there was no moderation, and lots of people who neglect their regular lives to spend their days on the forum lol
many forums have different rules, and so far the only ones i disagree with here is the inability to post nething not honda civic related (EVEN if its for trade towards a honda part.... kinda weird) and the moderators imposing the rule that we cant post links to products that their sponsors did not approve....
personally, i dont believe thats a great way to run a forum, and while i am unaware of how much it costs to sponsor as a business, im sure that this forum was begun originally to HELP people with their vehicles, not create turmoil and steer people towards a single product because that company payed.....
doesnt that undermine freedom?

When go to the Message Board section, you will see a section called "Lighting, HID's & Neon" sponsored by "XenonDepot". As a result, they have more rights than you do.
You are right in that we all should help each other and steer people in the right direction. However, this same kit in question is the same as any other kit that is cheaper and with good results. So, about your comment about "...I'm sure that this forum was begun originally to HELP people with their vehicles, not create turmoil and steer people towards a single product..." that is what you, others and the OP have been doing. Steer people towards a single product when there are vast more ebay kits with positive results.
Again, this site is a business first. Then, it's a forum. It is a prividlege to sell in this website, not a right(hence the rules). Vendors have a right to sell and advertise
Anyways it is good to help people and steer them to a positive path to a good buy/fix for their car. However, ebay links are a no-no.
You can always tell them the name of the ebayer and where he's from. That IS allowed. You guys are making a big deal out of nothing.
Check ebay again and you will see more kits look alike for cheaper. I too bought from the dude from the OP and no worries for 6 months until both stopped working but customer service was awesome
