Washing Technique!

I did a search and couldn't find a thread dedicated to this, so no flames please. I'm also not sure where to post this so i'll try here. Untill i bought my 08 Si, i had always taken my old car to an old drive thru carwash, i didn't care much for its paint getting scratched etc. But now that i have a new car, i have been told that it is better to hand wash it myself.
The time had finally come for me to wash my car. I probably chose a bad time because it was Sunny and pretty hot, about 65-75 degrees. I had my soap, water and microfiber towel (looks more like some type of weird leather?) EDIT:just checked the name it's a chamois. So anyway i rinse my car, begin washing it with soap, when im done cleaning i rinsed it again, and began to dry it with my microfiber towel. As i dry it i notice streaks, and about 20 minutes later, the entire car has streaks and the paint feels *nasty* and not smooth at all. What should i do?
