Haha, good luck.
First of all with wider wheels and tires in the rear you would create a lot of understeer (aka handles like crap). Secondly with 8.5"+ wide wheels you have to be careful if you are lowered, odds are you would run into clearance issues with your spring and strut, especially if you are lowered on coilovers, and in that case you would have to change your springs and modify the strut collar. And even then you still have to be careful with you tire choice and camber specs.
And just FYI, no one has fit anything larger than a 9" wheel on a 8thgen without a wide body kit. And the few that are running 9's are either stretching tires, running a lot of camber, rolled their fenders, modified their suspension or have done some combination of all of these.

Yeah, IMO it would probably look worse than stock because with that higher offset it would be more sunken into your wheel wells than the stock wheels are already.

The HFP suspension offers a very subtle drop, you could clear much more aggressive wheels than 17 x 7 +48's.
