Instead of making your own custom speaker ring adapters, did you know they already make them for Honda Civics? Crutchfield only includes a universal spacer if you order speakers from them and the instructions for the universal bracket calls for drilling holes. Also, it's a thin spacer so a lot of speakers might not be able to clear the depth if used in doors. I always want to avoid drilling holes when all possible. Here are two brands of Honda Speaker adapters that will fit Civics with no drilling:

o American International HSB518 (they say for 2003 and up Accords, but they will also fit Civics)

o Scosche SAHC634

The above models are for 6.5 inch speakers. Just beware that some 6.5 inch speakers might require a large diameter mounting hole.

I think these spacer adapters are about 3/4 inch thick so a lot of speaker baskets should be able to clear the unconventional hole on the Civic so you can avoid doing any cutting as well.

I know my Polk DB650 pair have a relatively small mounting hole required so they will drop right into any of the above-mentioned spacer adapters and also they easily clear the Civic unconventional speaker hole so no modification on the factory hole is necessary. I use Polk DB6500 on the doors and and DB650 on the rears. They easily fit even with the slim Crutchfield universal spacers. I have a 2006 Honda Civic LX. I am still using the stock stereo so without aftermarkets amps, the sound would be crappy with the stock deck trying powering them.
