You are right about the potential of the WRX being greater than that of the Si performance wise. It might have been a good idea to just start with a used WRX. If you are feeling an economic hit from just paying on your Si, I probably wouldn't think too seriously about getting a WRX and modding it.

If you really want to ditch the Si for a WRX, more power to you. Now the trick to your theory is finding someone who will pay $19K for a used Si with 30K miles when a new one is $21K.
