"Oh damn... If we don't do a recall, our reputation as a "reliable" Automobile Manufacturing company might get ruined!!!"

It reminds me of the scene in Fight Club when Edward Norton is explaining how he works for a car company:

"A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one."

Granted... our cars grinding while going into 3rd probably won't get anyone killed haha, but you get the point...
Brave? Heartless? Do what an Acura Mechanic told me to do. Let the Sonofabitch pop out, grind, and bang when i has a dodgey shift. After 3000 miles of that kind of abuse take it in and get all new related parts that are damaged. Then do it again, and again till 36,000 miles... then buy another car.

I couldn't believe it when he told me that. I can't bring my self to do it. I just baby the shit out of it. I have had only ONE time did it pop out of gear. that was enough. scared the !@#$% out of me.
