I gotta jump in on this. I've read the multiple threads on the X intake, finally, and i think i can chime in.

BBoy_Burst, the fins are guide vanes to keep the airflow laminar past the MAF sensor, keeping it smooth and even across the area that the sensor measures. As I take it from some other posts, its measuring the flow, not the pressure, as as such, a laminar flow seems to be what the sensor needs, hence Honda's guide vanes.

My Si is stock for now, but it sounds like most/all of the aftermarket SRIs and CAIs have no guide vanes, which sounds like is resulting in a turbulent airflow in the area of the MAF sensor.

X and Cali, thanks for the DIY and vids! I think im finally convinced that i'm going to build one of these sooner or later :)
