It is the legal limit for my state... 27% light emission... My tint allows 25% light through. or 25% VLT (visible light transmission)
For the most part, I think it's the picture, and the angle. If my windshield were tinted even 40% (illegal but i might do it), it would look much darker. If you look at this picture below, it looks like my side windows are 5%:
