Hello, I am a Mechanical Engineer. I do not work for Honda so take my opinions as they come.

I understand Freerides point that the stock pulley has the rubber ring for a reason, to dampen, reduce NVH. I personally don't think that by replacing that rotational device by a solid pulley will result in any great engine damage. In my humble opinion it is safe to say that the engine will probably fail due to normal causes (wear and tear) before the pulley's cause. If and only if the pulley had true balancing characteristics (a bulging counterweight on one side) and it was to be removed than that could be dangerous.

A lot of V8s use external balancing because the V orientation of the engine introduces forces in odd directions. Race and some modern V8s undergo zero balancing, sort of like the inline 4s.

Inline 4s are much easier to balance than V8s because the V8s like i said, produce extra force components that must be accounted for.

In any case, looking at the system as a whole. It is safe to say that through the belt, clutch, bushings, engine mounts etc... there is enough damping.

Now if you were to go with solid engine mounts, solid bushings, 6 puck clutch, FI and shave 400 lbs you are going to reduce the damping characteristics of the car as a whole. Other than that, the pulleys seem fine in my book.

My 2 cents.
