I dont think that you will gain something by cutting that it will breathe the same air with the same temperature.

A quick cheap fix for the Injen Cai rubber elbow that comes in contact with upper radiator hose is a 3 x 3 x 2 inches piece of foam. I put it between the hose and the elbow. And now after a long trip I touch that rubber elbow and is a lot colder.
