Yeah, maybe you're right, it probably doesn't help quicker shifting. I just have the impression that I sometimes need to hold some throttle on my RX-7 for easier shifting. Maybe it's actually when I'm doing more sedate driving; if I'm taking too long to get it into the next gear, the Rs have dropped too much and I need to add throttle to match RPMs.

Ok, I'm not really sure.
