scratches and touch up paint
Hi everyone,
I'm new here but was just wondering if I could get a few opinions from you guys.
I bought a new 06' Civic Coupe EX (Automatic) and I love it. Unfortunatly, very unfortunatly, I was parking downtown on Robson and touched a post with the rear quarter panel of my car. If I was a few centemeters to the right I would have been fine. Problem was the post was 2.5 feet tall and in a stupid spot (enough of me justifying) i'm just not that type of driver usually.
Anyway, now that I've had time to cool off from my stupid mistake, I'm left with a semi-small paint scratch on the very bottom and mid-bottom of my back corner. (about 10 cm long) There was a bit of (yellow) paint transfer but that came off easily.
It was already buffed out but unfortunatly there was some of my acutal "atomic blue pearl" paint removed from the surface and a bit of black is coming through. It feels like the surface underneath is plastic, no metal surface was scraped.
My question is... what do you all think would be the best way to go about this? I dont really want to spend $200-$400 for the dealer to charge me for touch-ups, but at the same time it needs to be fixed because its a new car and looks ugly haha.
I have a can of the exact touch up paint that would be used for the car. I COULD do it myself but that would be a sin, and I wouldn't know where to begin in actually painting the car. Or I could let the dealer handle it all 100%What do you guys think? And would I need to apply a clear-coat after doing the touch up paint? any other worries? thanks guys
