All of a sudden, my 06 civic starting acting up last night:
I was stopped at a light and i feel my car jerk forward. I thought it was the person behind me that hit me and got pissed and moved forward a little. At another light, it did the same thing.
Then on the way back, it started doing the same jerking when i accelerate from a complete stop and it changes gears.
Its like 300 miles past due for oil change but i dont think thats it. This is a 2006 Honda Civic with automatic transmission. Can someone help me with this?
Also, i bought the car at 33k miles so im not sure if the previous owner did the 30k maintenance.
As of today, this is what has happened:
I turned on the car this morning and the D light on dashboard started blinking and check engine light came on. No jerking so far.
Ok so after i went to a garage who sent me to a transmission specialist who said i have to leave the car with them. I cant afford to leave it with them for a day. The guy drove it but it drove fine and the D light stopped blinking when i got to their place.
I went to Autozone and i restarted and the check engine light went off! Car is driving find and no lights are on but they pulled the P0847 code which means it could be open or short circuit condition, faulty pressure switch or hydraulic system failure.
Where do i go from here? The dealership would be my last resort because I cant afford it and I heard they charge 80 bucks for a diagnostic. I also wanted to add that the gas cap was loose before i left my house today and i could smell gas. so i unscrewed and screwed it back on tightly.
Hydraulic failure, it is your trans. Sorry to break it to you but if you have any trans work done you definitely wont have your car back in a day. Take it to a reputable trans shop and hope for a low number.
EDIT: I see your in ATL, Im an auto tech student and one of my teachers is a trans wiz, and owns his own shop. if youd like i can shoot you his info. Hes a good guy, ASE Master Tech, and maybe if you drop my name he will cut you some slack. shoot me a pm if your interested.
So, it's a Hydaulic failure? I will take my car to trans shop today. Does it cost much money for repairing this problem? I am living in Toronto, Canada.
I was referring to the OP, I didnt look at the date though. In his post he says that he pulled a code and it was labeled as hydraulic failure, or faulty pressure switch. Id assume that since your having the same type of problem it is the same thing. I can guarantee you that it is a transaxle problem, idk what what it is though. It could be many things, Yes trans repairs are expensive. You have to pay the R&R guy to take it out and put it back in, your going to pay for diag time, and your going to pay the builder to fix it (if its an internal problem). Maybe you will get lucky and its something with the PCM that can be flashed or something, idk.
Why did you even bother posting that? What a worthless response.
because how does telling him to go to honda and ***** help him? Honda isnt just going to fix your car everytime you have a problem, you dont even know if he still has a warranty.. Also he said, I dont want to waste my time going place to place. I guarantee you he is going to waste time by going to honda.
I know this is an old thread, but wanted to thank the OP for posting it. Your description could have been word for word what happened to me a couple of days ago. I thought I was crazy when I thought the car moved on its own at a stop light....lol.
Honda just called to tell me that they got a code (I'm guessing the same number) and that it was a faulty pressure switch/3rd gear. They said this would most definitely explain the symptoms I was experiencing which they called a "surge" (I called it lurching).
bayleepetrie what was the $$ damage @ the dealer? My 08 civic started doing this yesterday. It actually happened once before and fixed itself but today D is still blinking and CEL is staying on.
MY Daughter had this on her 2006 Honda Civic Coupe DX today

4.HON 06320-RDJ-A00 Protector KI A $ 19.49

Hi,
I know this is an old thread but my son's '08 Civic Sedan EX
had the same problem-PO847, blinking drive light, intermittent.
He said it did surge once or twice. (44,481 miles)
Bought the 3rd clutch pressure switch part # 28600-RPC-004
at Honda for $66 including tax. Wasn't too bad to put in, 22mm socket
bottom drivers side of transmission. All seems OK now
Good day to everyone here.. please my Honda Civic 2008 car engine was removed because the power steering pump sits were broken and a bolt also broke inside of another sit, so it was well repaired and and the pump could sit properly and the engine was fixed back but the next thing was all this signs of car jerking, fuel gauge not working, drive light keep blinking and the car goes off before driving 300 meters and wouldn’t start until after some minutes.. can someone please tell me about what yo do thanks
