you're almost right. the power (+) for the switch goes to the battery. the ground (-) goes to any metal touching the car chassis. the source power (+) goes to the lights. if you bought your switch new, there should be instructions telling you that one goes to the 12v power (battery), one goes to the ground, and one goes to the source (lights). just follow EntropyXIII's diagram on page 1. i followed it exactly. hope this helps...
by the way, DO NOT MOUNT YOUR RESISTOR WHERE I MOUNTED IT!!! after one long night of driving, the resistor got so hot it kind of melted

the plastic cover over it (the cover that goes over the front grill/radiator). mount your resistors out in the open. i will find another spot (perhaps where EntropyXIII mounted his) or elsewhere and post pics...
