my last car was black. had it for over 6 years. and yeah i'd get swirl marks after every time i washed it. there would be swirl marks in the exact directions where i used my wash mitt. i only washed it about once every 2-3 weeks though(spray detailer w/ microfiber cloths in between) so i'd throw a light coat of wax on after every wash and it kept the swirl marks to a minimum, almost completely removing them. even after 6 years the paint looked brand new. all i ever used was meguiars gold class, none of that gimicky scratch-x or cleaner wax stuff.

i remember how big of a pain that was though.. thats why my current car is now white :)
