They praised the handling, but the car's straight line performance translated into the slowest lap time in its bracket. Running the cars around an actual race track with both straights and turns is IMO a very good way to gauge performance and I wish they'd do these types of comparo's more often.
If you havn't already you should give it a read...interesting article, would make me cry if I owned a mustang tho.

Aaahhhh yes, the miata's downfall for ages, it's slow in a straight line. The good thing? Mazda is fixing it with their new 300hp turbocharged miata.

That thing, without a doubt, will be fantastic.
I'll definitely have to give that a read when I have a little more time.
