I'm having a hard time understanding how wheel offset works. Am I correct in assuming, the higher the offset, the further out (towards the road) the rim will be? Or am I completely misunderstanding the concept.

I plan to run 17x7 with a +50 wheel offset, I know it will fit, but I'd like it to be further out towards the road, without using spacers.
