Nice diy, I did the same thing but have not cut the fins in the intake chamber (yet). Not sure if I will or not. One thing I did different is I just used a razor knife. Makes for a nice clean edge. No need to use a hack saw, and make all the mess. The razor knife will cut through it no problem at all. I just miss the vtec sound, it's gone! One other thing I did was place some high density foam on the edge of the piping as it enters the bumber area to prevent any vibration or rattling. You didn't mention that you had any issues but I didn't want to take any chances. So, did you drop in the k&n yet? Changes? Wish there was a dry hi-flow drop in.
